7 Simple Steps to Get Back on Track

For the past 12 years, I have worked as a fitness professional, prioritizing fitness in my life and I am always trying to inspire others to do the same. But most recently, after COVID, I have observed that a similar trend to when I first began my fitness adventure is stronger than ever.

For people, taking the initial step is challenging and requires tremendous emotional bravery. And the pandemic’s effects on every aspect of their lives over the past few years have left them feeling lost. Some of us believe we may have failed in some way or are dissatisfied in where we have let ourselves go to for these past few years. Quite simply put, some of us feel our motivation just keeps slipping back to zero.

I’m here to inform you that these emotions are both legitimate and very typical.

So starting is the first step and, as I said, it’s critical for some.

The other prevalent pattern is one that we can all easily slip into.

Losing interest after we’ve begun.

Most people start out strong, concentrating on themselves, with objectives in mind and a desire to achieve them.

Then, something takes place in between.

It’s possible that the results have temporarily plateaued or that it has become clear that it requires a lot of effort to achieve the desired physical improvements. We all desire fast pleasure, and given the society we live in today with its frequently unrealistic social media expectations, I’m confident that this is just human nature.

The reality is that life gets in the way and provides us with a wide range of problems, so we cannot always be feeling upbeat and succeeding on all fronts at once. CONSTANTLY!!

The good news is that we can quickly return to thinking positively about ourselves if we make the necessary adjustments to our choices and way of thinking.

When things are difficult, follow these steps to make a stand for yourself.

  1. Focus with the end in mind:  I always request that my clients make a list of one or two short-term and long-term objectives. Goals may need to be adjusted as you go because of changes in yourself or your life, but always have the end goal in mind as you move through each day.
  2. Listen to your body: Unfortunately, we frequently forget that we only need a day or a few days to enjoy some self-care rituals to regenerate energy to get back on track because of the constant social and personal pressures we face. This one act of self-respect can keep us from veering completely off course.
  3. A gratitude journal: This is undoubtedly one of the best pieces of advice I have ever given to any client. Every night, right before you go to bed, write down one or more things about yourself for which you are glad. Place this list by your bed. When you wake up each morning, read it out to yourself at least five times.
  4. Find a friend: Reach out to a partner, family member, or friend and ask them to join you as a training partner or as a support person to your goals so they can check in and encourage you when and if the going gets difficult. This will help you feel like you have someone on your side.
  5. Do more of what you love: This is crucial! Make sure you do a lot of whatever it is that you love the most from a movement perspective.. This is the cornerstone of maintaining a healthy relationship with your body and appreciating what you and it can accomplish in unison to bring enjoyment to one another. Total success!
  6. Practice being kind to yourself: Always be gentle to yourself because expecting oneself to feel wonderful, upbeat, and driven every day is impractical and unfair. Nobody is. We all experience difficulties, worry, and bad days. It is just the practice of positive self-talk, planning for the future, and having the guts to start over as the sun rises.
  7. Bite-sized chunks: When it comes to improving your fitness and health habits, small changes can make a big difference. Start out modestly by enrolling in one of our Fit Forever classes for beginners and seniors or a short 30 minute hiit class.

How you feel at the end of a busy week might change significantly with just one or two classes per week. Your miraculous first modest step will have been taken care of by 7 Days Free.
